Havent read all the posts, its late and im tired.
With regards to the first post, wouldnt this system drop the price of pirate implants? because people would only by those implants for the pirate bonus and not have to think about the attribute bonus as it would be replaced by the implants with the better attribute bonus which is safe and sound in a clone in a station far away.
I like the idea of it all being linked, it can make sense especially having looked at some of the other posts. But I think pvpers should have that kind of risk we currently have. Its largely what makes pvp so tense or satisfying. I also think that Carebares should have that risk as well.
so 5 things: 1 - let rats above lvl 1 missions, and certain negative systems, maybe 0.7 and lower, pod players. Carebares would have to think then, its not quite as hostile as pvp but at least they are risking implants then.
2- allow implants to degrade over time for what ever reason ccp come up with (maybe they are being burned-out faster?). eg, +5 implants degrade in 1month or 3 months with max skills and +3 over 3months to 6months depending on skills (just throwing out a timescale there, better timescales should be thought of). That way an active PVPer is likely to lose those implants b4 the timescale is up. And if your inactive in PVP for whatever reason, maybe coz you are a carebare, you will still have to reinvest in implants. Also i think people will purchase different combinations of implants depending on what skills they intend to train so it will be a little more involved.
3- combination of the first two so carebares risk closer to what pvpers risk.
4- There is no justification for this other than i think it would be cool. The more pvp kill notifications/mails/combat logs you get the longer your implants last. I dont know why that would happen, maybe your adrenaline could help maintain the implants or something, point is there would be a personal reward for the risks taken when fighting with implants in. If you happen to fight for months and not die and get the kill mails for it, one reward for that could be an increase to implant life, and maybe a short term boost in its attribute bonus. So if you kill a BS whilst in a AF and get the mail/kill notification, then the boost on attribute implants might be +3 for 1 week. But if you kill a AF whilst in a BS and get the mail/kill notification, then the boost might be +1 for 3 hours. (and if you kill someone on a trial account you get no bonus)
5- all of the above And you could have the max be something like Titan killed by a T1 frig gives you +5 bonus to attributes for 2 weeks.
